So, we are finally settled back in from NY Bridal Fashion Week and unpacked. Yes, I know it’s been a month, but I hate unpacking (tbh, I’m still not even fully unpacked).
It’s honestly hard to concisely put into words what it’s like to be there, except that it’s one magical whirlwind. Every time. I come home electrified, exhausted and counting the days until the next Fashion Week.
This season, designers brought their A Game and we could not be more excited for these trends! Read below to read about our top five favorite wedding dress trends to look forward to in 2020!
Keyhole Backs
Super excited to see keyhole backs make a small resurgence. They’re such an interesting way to show off the back of a dress without too much illusion fabric. Plus, they can give you just the right amount of sexy in the back without being too revealing!
Dramatic Sleeves
This was our favorite statement trend that hit the runway! This fashion-forward trend is a unique way to stop the show, not only turning heads, but keeping them turned. From poofy cuff sleeves to eye-catching dramatic details, sleeves are definitely a trend to look out for. Talk to your consultant or seamstress about making them detachable for a gorgeous entrance for your walk down the aisle, then take them off for the reception to switch it up.
Off-The-Shoulder Necklines
We L-O-V-E off-the-shoulder and portrait necklines. They are so timeless and elegant looking, plus they look great on pretty much everyone (hello covering arms in that one spot while still looking gorg af). I was especially excited to see this trend rule fashion week and I hope it sticks around a while longer!
Romantic Elegance
From classic high necklines to simple strapless a-lines, each designer had their own twist on how to turn the focus back to the bride with simple, yet elegant wedding dresses. Structured fabrics, like Mikado, dominated just as much as in the spring. We were also happy to see some clean, classic crepe dresses in the mix! We love simple elegance because the bride takes center stage without too much detail to distract.
Glamorous Showstoppers
Flip the damn switch and turn up the wattage, because it’s all about the details and the glitz. Of course, this is the trend I’m most excited about, I love details on details and blinding sparkle. It’s a rare day I’m not covered in glitter at the store. We loved how each designer worked in sparkle in their own way and weren’t afraid to up the sparkle factor. With layers of shimmer tulle and hand-beadwork, each dress shined brighter than the next, sure to dazzle guests at anyone’s wedding.
Textured Textiles
Not only were designers unafraid of sparkle this year, they upped the detail factor as well. Texture fabrics and 3-dimensional designs are a fun way mix up classic trends in a unique way. Designers added in 3-D floral laces, feathers and dramatic ruffled skirts to add a surprising twist to each dress.
These trends are hitting stores in Spring 2020. Can’t wait until next year to try on wedding gowns? Contact us to set up an appointment!
